The death of Jacob Grafius Esq. at his comfortable home on Water Street yesterday afternoon, removes from our midst one of our oldest residents. He was born in Williamsport in March 1811 & learned the trade of blacksmithing but never followed it preferring the mercantile life.
He formed the company of Grafius & Jeffries.
He married the daughter of Philips Krebs Esq. They have two children Maggie & Joseph. Maggie married Winslow Petrekin. Joseph was a member of the firm Boggle & Grafius. Mr. Grafius is a member of the Presbyterian Church. He is known for his strict honesty & firm of purpose. The community has lost a good citizen, his family a good husband & father.
