New Holstein – Mrs. Harry Gierke, 37, former teacher in the Sheboygan county schools died Thursday after a several months' illness. Funeral services will be held Sunday at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral Home here and at St. John's Reformed church. The Rev. A G. Schmid will officiate and burial will be made in the Union Cemetery at Plymouth.
Mrs. Gierke was born Aug. 5, 1898, in the town of Plymouth, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Graef. She was graduated from Plymouth High School, after which she taught at the Lime Ridge School near Elkhart Lake; Valley school, west of Plymouth, and for one year at Sheboygan Falls. On Nov. 15, 1922, she was united in marriage to Harry Gierke at Plymouth and the couple made their home in New Holstein. Mrs. Gierke was a member of St. John's Reformed church and of its Woman's Missionary society.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Ruth Ann; a sister, Mrs. Fred Steinacker of Fort Wayne, Ind., and a brother, Arthur Graef of Kiel.
