the ancestral homestead of his grandfather, James Gowen.
In 1875 David moved his family to Deering,
a suburb of Portland, Maine.
David was a man of ability. He was one of
the charter members of Westbrook Grange #87 and was elected its' first master.

David and Lucy married on 6 November 1856.
They were the parents of ten children;
Deborah, Charles, Susie, Emma, Mary Francena, Charlotte, Charles, Victoria,
Electra, Clara.

at Deering, Cumberland, Maine.

During the late 1890's, David became ill,
was a pauper and became a town charge
at Old Orchard Beach, York, Maine.
On his death, a small lot owned by David
was forfeited to the town for his medical
and burial expenses.

dwelling in the household of his son-in-law
and daughter, Jefferson and Mary Huff.
