Ruth K. Gowen, age 87, died Saturday in the Kennebunk Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She graduated from Wells High School in 1920 as valedictorian of her class; then attended St. Barnabas School of Nursing.
She was the secretary and treasurer of Oak Grove Cemetery for 40 years; a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star; Schubert Club; she was the organist at the Wells Branch Baptist Church for 20 years.
Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.
