Mary married Byron Smith Ater November 13, 1891 in Piatt county, Illinois.
Mrs. B. S. Ater of Long Creek township, died in the residence at 3 o'clock Saturday morning after a lingering illness of about a year's duration. She suffered a stroke of paralysis early Saturday morning which preceded her death by about three hours.
Miss. Cossett was born near Cerro Gordo on June 29, 1870, She married B. S. Ater in 1890. She leaves her husband and the following children-Mrs. Ruth Adkins, Decatur; Frank Ater, Lake City: Roy Ater, Long Creek; Charley Ater, Forsyth; Byron Newell, Pa ; Vernon and Russell Ater at home. She also leaves eight grandchild, one sister, Mrs. Maggie Lichty, and two brothers, Ed Gossett of Cerro Gordo, and John Gossett of Lake City.
Mrs Ater had been a resident of Piatt and Macon counties practically all her life, living 27 years on the
farm where she resided at the time.
