Altoona Mirror, Monday, 23 February 1931:
"John E. Gorman of 112 East Walnut avenue died at his home at 9:10 o'clock Saturday night of a complication of diseases after a long illness. He was born at Newry on Feb. 11, 1885 a son of Martin and Ninta Gorman and was employed in the Fourth street blacksmith shops by the Pennsylvania Railroad company. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nettie (Weyandt) Gorman, two sons, Edward and Ray Gorman; on grandson Calvin Gorman; one brother and one sister, George T. Gorman of Roaring Spring and Mrs. Ella Tanneyhill of South Lakemont. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran church and of the Fellowship Bible class. Funeral services will be held at the late home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Burleigh A. Peters officiating. Interment will be made in the Newry Lutheran cemetery."
