|Capt David Gorham|
|Death: ||Jan. 4, 1852|
New York, USA
"Jan. 4 -- At Burlingham, Sullivan County, Captain David Gorham, aged 92 years.
Captain Gorham was the father of Captain A. Gorham, well known to the traveling public as the popular Commander of the steamer Troy and other Hudson-River boats. Captain Gorham was a native of Old Statford, Conn., where he resided during the War of the Revolution, and in which he took part on the side of Liberty and Independence. Captain Gorham has resided for more than 60 years near the spot where he died. He is one of the many persons which New England has sent forth to settle the new states and territories, as they have been added to the Union; and to them are we indebted for the many valuable institutions which we possess."
