Alan Edward Goretski, age 47, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Saturday, November 9, 2013 of Graft Versus Host Disease (a complication of a stem cell transplant he received in July).

Alan was born February 27, 1966 in Milwaukee, son of Patricia (Bushman) Goretski and the late Edward Goretski Jr. of Rosholt. Alan spent his childhood in Milwaukee and moved with his family to Rosholt at the age of 12. While in High School he was involved in football, choir, theater, track, photography and basketball. He graduated from Rosholt High School in 1984.

His marriage to Paula Walter took place on August 12, 1989 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Polonia. Early in their marriage, he held many successful sales positions due to his charm and positive outlook. For the past 19 years he worked for Asplundh Tree Expert Co. Alan was an extremely hard worker who took pride in all he did; and was especially proud of his two children.

When he wasn't working, he enjoyed many hobbies, including: hunting, fishing, dancing, darts, pool, horseshoes, golf, cooking, singing karaoke and playing cards. He will be remembered for his joke and story-telling abilities, willingness to help others, humor, contagious smile, respect for nature, love for animals and attention to detail-but most of all for his devotion to family and loyalty to friends.

Alan is survived by the love of his life, Paula; his daughter Emily and son Chad both of Stevens Point. His mother Patricia Goretski of Rosholt; and his sister Gayle (Brian) Dumler of Stevens Point. He is also survived by many loving relatives and close friends.

Funeral Mass will be 9:00 am Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. Rev. Greg Michaud will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday eve. At the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home at 703 Second St. in Stevens Point, also from 8 am until the time of services Wednesday morning at the Church. A general rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm Tuesday eve. at the funeral home. For online condolences please visit www.pisarskifuneralhome.com
