A native of Biloxi, Miss., and a longtime resident of Louisiana, she died Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, in Nashville, Tenn., at age 82 following a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She attended high school in St. Mary of the Pines in Chatawa, Miss. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and her doctorate from LSU. She retired in 1988 as Chief of Psychology at the Louisiana State Hospital in Jackson and moved to Zachary where she continued to consult for several years. In addition to being dedicated to her profession, she was devoted to her children, grandchildren and friends. She is survived by her ex-husband, Victor J. Cieutat, of McLean, Va., and their four daughters, Anne Williford and husband, Shannon, of Nashville, Susan Cieutat and husband, Bob Markel, of San Francisco, Kate Penrose, currently in China, and Lee-Ann Cieutat, of Baton Rouge; and six grandchildren, Nathan Silva, Julian Penrose, Stephen Cieutat, Linden and Julia B. Williford and Eliza Cieutat Markel. The family will scatter her ashes in Biloxi at the gravesite of her parents, Daniel and M. Irma Gorenflo. She will be dearly missed.
