Nettie Gore Arnold

Nettie Gore Arnold, 86, of Waycross died Tuesday evening (May 31, 2011) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a long wonderful fulfilled life of caring and giving. She was born in Bowden, NC to the late James L. and Nellie Elizabeth Rivenbark Gore. Mrs. Arnold has lived in Waycross since 1958 and was retired from Sears and later had a daycare in her home for twenty years. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church since 1959 and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Arnold, Sr; one grandson, Michael Carlton; two brothers, Joe Gore and Herman Gore; one sister, Katie Mae Kirby.

Survivors include three daughters, Connie Carlton (husband Johnny), Warsaw, NC, Jean A. Stroud, Knightdale, NC, Cindy Walker (husband Jimmy), Waycross; three sons, Johnny Arnold (wife Sandra), Waycross, Steve Arnold (wife Teresa), Waycross, Glenn Arnold (wife Joyce), Waycross; 13 grandchildren, Ron Carlton (wife Brooke), Ocean Isle, NC, Leigh Ann Carlton, Warsaw, NC, Katrina Hearn (husband Brantley), Knightdale, NC, Vicki Athmann (husband Troy), Firestone, CO, Kevin Stroud (wife Melissa), Wendell, NC, John Horace "Johnny Boy" Arnold, III (wife Caroline), Athens, GA, Cody Alston Arnold, Waycross, Ally Hope Arnold, Waycross, Jenna Brooks (husband Adam), Waycross, Mac Arnold, Waycross, Robbie Arnold, Waycross, Megan Arnold, Waycross, Julianna Hudson (husband Dustin), Blackshear; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Friday morning at 10 am at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
