Mildred Essie Gore Burgess, age 87, of 6422 Johnson Road, died March 27, 2002, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 2 p.m. today, Mt. Moriah Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Plymon and Rev. Gaylord Brownlee officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Vernon Burgess, Sr.

Survivors include son, George Vernon Burgess, Jr. of Tuscaloosa; sister-in-law, Mamie Durroh of Columbus, Miss.; brother-in-law, Floyd Burgess of Cullman; nieces, Ann Joyner (Floyd) and Sue Gore; nephew, John Ellis Gore (Patsy); special family, Kay and Ray Burroughs; special friends, Annie Richardson, Kim Foster and August Lavender.

Mrs. Burgess was born September 9, 1914, to Ellis Burdine Gore and Annie Coward Gore. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Free Will Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Pallbearers will be John Ellis Gore, Floyd Joyner, Owen Joyner, Cris Porter, Mayo Ruffin and Ellis Turnipseed.
