He was the son of Robert and Sarah (Brosius/Broshes) Gordon. After the Civil War, he moved to Callao, Macon County, MO. There he married Martha Lovren, daughter of James Lovern, in Feb 1870.
The family lived in Newcastle, Henry County, IN, in 1880. Children shown were Maggie and James. By 1900 they had settled in Pueblo, Pueblo County, CO.
