Funeral services for F.E. Gordon, who died Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dock Hanks of route 6 , Palestine, were held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Carroll and Lehr Funeral Home Chapel in Athens.
The services were conducted by the Rev. M.L. Fuller, with interment in the Athens cemetery beside the grave of the deceased's wife.
Pallbearers were Dock Hanks, E.F. Carroll, Abel Price, Robert Harrington, Hamp Hanks and C.E. Mahan.
Mr. Gordon was born in Mississippi on December 15, 1849 and had been a farmer in Henderson county for about the past 25 years. He came to Henderson county from Hill county.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. W.H. Hance of Baytown, Mrs. Dock Hanks of Palestine, route 6, Mrs. E.F. Carroll of Fort Worth, Mrs. J. Hautman of Dallas and Mrs. C.D. Evans of Athens, J.H. Gordon of Waco and Ed Gordon of Lubbock; five stepchildren, Mrs. Edith Warren, Mrs. R. B. Hallum, Joe Simmons, Aubrey Anderson and Mrs. Ollie Gordon; a sister, Mrs. F.E. Lybrand of Dallas and a number of grandchildren.
