RITES MONDAY FOR MARY [SIC] GORBY CALVERT -
Funeral at Sister's Home in Indianapolis - Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery


Funeral services for Mrs. May Gorby Calvert, who died in Akron Ohio on Friday were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Charles W. Mitchell, 265 Parkview avenue in Indianapolis. The Rev. Rousch, pastor of the Brookside United Brethern church, conducted the services.

The body was brought to Franklin for burial in Greenlawn, beside the bodies of her husband, Dr. A. M. Calvert, and a daughter, Kathleen. A brief service at the grave was conducted by Mrs. Calvert's nephew, Charles Gorby Mitchell, a medical missionary.

The casket bearers were Thomas L. Gorby, Orin L. Gorby, LeRoy Gorby, brothers of the deceased. Le Roy and Charles Mitchell, nephews, and John Newsome. Nieces and nephews carried the flowers.

The remains of Mrs. Calvert were accompanied to Franklin by the surviving members of her family. They are two sisters, Miss Alva Gorby of Uniontown, Pa., Mrs. Bernice Gorby Mitchell, of Indianapolis; three brothers,
Thomas L. Gorby of Cave City Ky., Orin L. Gorby, of Glasgow, Ky., LeRoy Gorby, of Indianapolis. Mrs. Thomas Gorby, Mrs. LeRoy Gorby, Mr. Mitchell, and several nieces and nephews accompanied the party.

A number of Franklin friends, attended the burial rites at Greenlawn. Mrs. Calvert lived a number of years in Franklin, and attended the public schools, and Franklin College. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Her father, the late S. S. Gorby, was a member of the Franklin college faculty, and served as Geologist of the state of Indiana.
