Obituary from "The Tama Northern"
"Old Resident Answered Last Call Sunday - Mrs. Augusta Goos Passed on - was 73 years old - Funeral Wednesday

Again the angel of death has called this time breaking the circle of the Goos family.
Mrs Augusta Bertha Goos passed away at the home of her daughter, in Gladbrook, Mrs. Mary Rhode, Sunday, May 31st, at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 14 days. Mrs. Goos was in good health until a few hours before her death when she suffered a paralytic stroke from which she never regained consciousness.

In Davenport, Iowa on March 17, 1852, Augusta Bertha Goos was born and lived until 1880 when she moved to Gladbrook, where she has since resided.

In October 1858, she was married to August Goos and to this union eleven children were born, all of whom but one, Mrs. Kate Moore, who died about 3 years ago, are living. They are: Mrs. Mary Rhode, Herman and Walter of Gladbrook; William of Gary, South Dakota; Adolf of Russell, Minnesota; Mrs. Emilia Schodt, Okoboji; Mrs. Anna Eberhardt, Mrs. Lovina Barger and Gus Goos of Beaman and Mrs. Minnie Berner of Hawarden. All of whom attended the funeral. Thirty-three grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren will miss their grandmother, who was always kind and loving and a good friend to many, who will also miss her. The husband and father departed this life at Gladbrook on December 8, 1915.

The funeral services were held in the Evangelical church on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Bergstraesser with interment in Maple Hill cemetery. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful, attesting the feeling of love of her friends and family.

The serene life, kind words and deeds of a good woman like Mrs. Goos never died. The bereaved family has the sympathy of their friends in this hour.

Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth; Yea, saithe the spirit, that they may rest from their labours and their works do follow them.
