ALBUQUERQUE — Funeral services for Teofilo Gonzales, 86, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Compassion Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Earl McQuitty will officiate. Burial will follow at the Grants Memorial Park.
A prayer service will be held this evening at 7 p.m. at Compassion Mortuary Chapel.
Gonzales died Aug. 10 in Albuquerque. He was born May 4, 1918, in Guadalupita.
Gonzales was a member of the CC Camps in the mid-1930s, he worked as sawmill operator until 1956 and worked for Kerr McGee Corp until he retired in 1983. Gonzales was also a minister.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Nieves Gonzales of Albuquerque; daughters, Lydia Branyan of Gallup, Carol Maleska of Massachusetts, Martha Ulibarri of Blanco, N.M., Marcella Smith, Delora Griego, both of Albuquerque, Ruth Luevano of Grants, Frances Hernandez of Albuquerque, Betsy Martinez of Wyoming; sons, Harry J. Gonzales of Grants, Daniel Gonzales, Jacob Gonzales both of Albuquerque; sisters, Mary of Albuquerque, Salome of Colorado, Veneranda of Portales; brothers, Filiberto of Colorado, Fred of Portales, Manuel of California, Ramon of Wagon Mound; 28 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren.
Gonzales was preceded in death by his parents, Teofilo Gonzales, Sr. and Amalia Chavez Gonzales; brother, Reyes; sisters, Deluvina and Veda; two grandsons, and one great-grandson.Pallbearers will be Alfred Tomlinson, Arthur Atkinson, David Ulibarri, Demetrius Smith, Joseph Greigo, Daniel Gonzales, Eric Luevano, Michael Hernandez and Jacob Gonzales.
Compassion Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
