Clara Gomez, age 85, a resident of Peñasco Blanco, NM, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010 in the arms of her loved ones.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Cipriano and Felicita Gonzáles Sánchez, her step-mother, Guadalupe Saiz Sánchez, her husband, Patrociñio Gómez, her brothers, Tomas Sánchez, Fred Sánchez and Luis Sánchez and a sister, Mary Padilla.
Clara is survived by five daughters, Josie Mascarenas and her husband, John of San Ignacio, NM, Bernilda Marrujo of El Carmen, NM, Pauline Gómez and Ramoncita Gómez both of Santa Fe, NM and Patricia Vigil and her husband, Rick of Albuquerque, NM, three sons, Silviano Gómez and his wife, JoAnn of Rociada, NM, Mike Gómez and his wife, Joyce of Albuquerque, NM and Jerry Gómez of Rociada, NM, five sisters, Maria Herrera of Las Vegas, NM, Jenny Sandoval of Anton Chico, NM, Alice Maés and her husband, George of Colorado Springs, CO, Teddy Gallegos and her husband, Benny of Las Vegas, NM and Lena Trujillo of Greeley, CO, three brothers, Manuel Sánchez of San Geronimo, NM, Leroy Sánchez and his wife, Elsie and Tony Sánchez and his wife, JoAnn all of Albuquerque, NM, 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
Clara was born in Peñasco Blanco, NM on October 29, 1924. Clara was united in marriage to Patrociñio Gómez in St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Mora, NM in 1938, a relationship that lasted 54 years. Her hobbies were making quilts, vegetable gardening, and was a wonderful cook. Her speciaity was her original pie crusts. Clara was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Sapello, NM. Services will be held from Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Sapello, NM beginning with a Rosary this evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Father Patrick Duffey will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the San Isidro Catholic Cemetery in Manuelitas with the following grandchildren serving as casket bearers, Marvin Mascareñas, Joseph Gómez, Marty Marrujo, Tim Gómez, Jerrito Gómez and Alan Gómez. Honorary bearers will be the rest of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family have requested memorials be made to the Heating and Air Conditioning Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 403 Valencia Street, Las Vegas, NM 87701.
