ALBUQUERQUE — Visitation for Daniel "Danny" R. Gomez, 74, was 1-3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 6, at Gabaldon Memorial Chapel. Final Visitation will be 9-9:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, at Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church, 8301 Camino San Martin SW. A rosary will be recited 9:30 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11, at Santa Fe National Cemetery with military honors.
Gomez died Sept. 3, 2009. He was born in Gallup.
Gomez was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam Era and retired after 24 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer in 1977. He was a culinary arts instructor at the Crownpoint Institute of Technology and at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, before retiring in 2003. Gomez was a board member of IFSEA, and was named Chef of the year two years in a row from the American Chef Federation.
Survivors include his wife, Michiko; daughters, Dannilynn Winter, Anna Marie Sherman; son, Fred Gonzalez; sisters, Corrine Andler; seven grandchildren.
Gomez was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Gomez, Annie Ross; sister, Geraldine Espinosa; brothers, Richard Gomez, Arthur Gomez, Leo Gomez; one grandson.
