Mackenzie Lee G. Shannon-85

We looked away for an instant and she stepped into the glorious light of day on August 11, 2016.

Mackenzie was born in Easton, Maryland to Martha and Philip Goldsborough.

She had an unwavering faith in God and was an active member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church.

She found beauty in everything and shared many wonderful memories about growing up on the Easton shore of Maryland. She lived with her family at her Ferrybridge Farm home located along her beloved Chesapeake Bay. She loved going crabbing with her daddy and watching the Canadian geese.

She was a wonderful horsewoman, raising and riding her Morgan horses and had many adventures in her V.W. bus she called the "Joy Bus". She enjoyed camping in it, attending Bluegrass Festivals, going hiking, and loved nature in all its glory.

She was preceded in death by her Muddy and Daddy; Aunt Beanie; her brother, Pat (Betty); her sons: Robert M. and Philip G.; and great granddaughter Cianna K.

Mackenzie is survived by her sons: William M. and Spencer S.; daughters: Bonita S. (Philip) and Katherine W. (Michael). Everyone lovingly called her "Granola, Mother Earth, Aunt Mac, Grandma and Nola", including her six grandchildren: Dustin (Amber), Darren, Josh, Ian, Ruben and Olivia, and two great-grandchildren: Aiden and Kierra.
She was a loving sister in-law to Betty, Patricia and Edward, an Auntie to Tim, Buffy, Julie, Edward, Margo, Michael and Kay-Kay. She was also considered a mother, sister, auntie and grandmother to many.

She was a professional calligrapher, and retired as administrative secretary for the Grand Junction VA Medical Center.

Mackenzie put her heart into giving and social work, she was very active in the Crisis Suicide Prevention Hotline, Catholic Outreach Day Center and helping the homeless of the Grand Valley. Her love and compassion knew no bounds.

Her quick wit, silly songs, and puns will be surely missed.
We will all miss you so much, love you a bushel and a peck…..

Services will be held at St. Matthews Church, Grand Junction, CO on September 18th, at 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Outreach Day Center, 245 S 1st St, Grand Junction, CO 81501.
