MISHAWAKA - Goldie Emily (Thonert) Goetz, 91, of Mishawaka, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. Goldie was born on September 10, 1919 in North Judson, IN to the late Frank F. and Ida (Schultz) Thonert. As the former Goldie Thonert, she married Ralph H. Goetz in April of 1937. Ralph and Goldie shared thirty-three years of marriage together. Ralph passed away on March 21, 1970. Five daughters, Elaine Holowatuk of Granger, LaDonna (Gordon) Marks of Deltona, FL, Barbara (Patrick) Erwin of Venice, FL, Deborah Wilson, Rick Wilson of Bradenton, FL and Charlene Daschke of Bucyrus, KS survive Goldie. Goldie was a loving and caring grandmother to 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Two sons-in-law, Bill Holowatuk and Denny Daschke, along with four sisters and two brothers preceded Goldie in death. Goldie and Ralph owned and operated the Goetz Grocery and Meat Market in Fulton, IN for 3 1/2 years. Goldie also worked and retired from the Hometown Dairy in River Park, IN. Goldie was a member of the Eagles Lodge #2083 and the American Legion Post 161 in Mishawaka. Goldie lived and volunteered her time at the Battell Center in Mishawaka by working in the kitchen and serving food. Goldie was a great cook of German food; she loved to travel, fish, bowl and dance, in particular doing the Polka. Goldie received the most gratification from dedication and hard work by taking care of her family and friends. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Goldie was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in South Bend. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 9, 2011 from 5-8 pm at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior on Saturday, September, 10, 2011 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 805 S. 29th St., South Bend, IN with Rev Steven Latzke officiating.
