Venice, Florida: Formerly of Irondequoit, died October 2, 2012 at the age of 93. Predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie. Survived by sons, David (Jeanette), Roger (Kathy); daughters, Sharon Smith (James), Christine Hobson (Robert) and Cynthia McClellan; grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Scott Smith (Mackenzie), Jeffery Goebel (Katja), and Brian McClellan; great-grandchild, McKenna Smith.
Born August 18, 1919 in Buffalo, N.Y. Graduated from Elmira Free Academy and then R.I.T. with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Served in Europe during WWII. Ssgt. Goebel was in charge of a mine sweeping/demolition team with the Army Engineers.
Later he worked for 30+ years at General Railway Signal Co. in the relay department. He was a long time member of Seneca United Methodist Church and later helped found the Irondequoit Full Gospel Church. He was active as a member of the Full Gospel Business Mens' Club.
After retiring, family, churchwork, golf and traveling occupied his time. He and his wife visited Europe, South America, Canada, Hawaii, Alaska, and Aruba.
Private Burial in Florida. A celebration of Carlton's life to be held October 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Seneca United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Englewood Hospice House, 12050 N. Access Rd., Port Charlotte, Florida 33981 in Carlton's name.
