Harry R., 77, of Oklahoma City died peacefully at home Friday evening with his family at his side. He was born in Lehr, ND, Jan 18, 1929 and grew up in Marsing, ID. He attended Boise State & Colorado State on athletic scholarships, lettering in multiple sports. In March 1951, he married his childhood sweetheart Kay Larsen and they were married for nearly 56 years at the time of his passing. To their union 5 children were born: Kathi Goebel, Kristi Oliver & her deceased husband Mac, Dee Goebel & wife Diane, Karen Keith & husband Jimmy and Bart Goebel & wife Tracy; and 3 grandchildren: Jake Keith, Grant Goebel, and Lexy Goebel. He is also survived by his 2 sisters, numerous nieces & nephews, other family members and friends. Harry spent his career as a geophysicist in the Oil & Gas industry after receiving a BS degree from Colorado State University. He served as president of the Oklahoma Geophysical Society from '73- '75 and became an honorary member in '91. Harry enjoyed golf, snow skiing, hunting and fishing as well as other activities, but most of all he enjoyed his role as husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend to all he met. The family would like to thank all of Harry's caregivers, especially Dr. William Collazo, Janet Fundaro, Crossroads Hospice and their staff for the wonderful care they provided to Harry and his family. Harry was a kind and gentle man; a truly good person. If all the world could have a companion or be raised by a man like Harry, it would be a kinder, more caring and compassionate world...he taught us well. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Calm Waters Center for Children & Families or to the charity of your choice. (Corbett FH)
