Marjorie "Marge" Godown Corliss, 86, of Hopewell Township, died Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 30, 2007, at South Jersey Healthcare-Elmer Hospital after being under the care of Hospice.

She was the widow of Garrett E. "Mike" Corliss Jr., who died in 2002, and was the daughter of the late Albert R. and Evelyn (nee Hand) Godown. Born in Cedarville, she was a 1938 graduate of Bridgeton High School, and had been a lifelong Bridgeton area resident. She had been a resident of the same Hopewell Township address for 47 years.

Mrs. Corliss was a homemaker for most of her life, but did work for several years in the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department.

She was a member of the Sigma Theta Chi Sorority, and enjoyed oil painting, bird watching and stamp collecting.

Survivors include one son, Garrett E. "Gary" Corliss III, of Hopewell Township; two daughters, Judith E. Walker and her husband, Robert, of Naples, Fla., and Jan E. Corliss, of Naples, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, M. Jean Corliss, of Hopewell Township; 7 grandchildren, Kimberly Cacciamani, J. Todd Corliss, Michael Sutton, Amy Goguen and Dylan, Mitchell and Chelsea Glass; 7 great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Tanner and Kevin Corliss, Garrett and Luke Sutton, and Jake and Emily Goguen; one sister, Patricia Platt, of Winter Haven, Fla. Marge was predeceased by a son, Albert R. "Albie" Corliss, this past March; and a grandson, Garrett E. Corliss IV, in 1981.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, Nov. 2, at 2 o'clock, at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton, with Rev. Edward Albright, and a family cousin officiating.

The interment will take place at the convenience of the family at the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, in Hopewell Township.

Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday afternoon, from 1 until 2.
