Born March 6, 1917 in Danville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Spurgen Taylor and Ollie Hubbard Taylor. She was an active member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. Because of her dedicated service, the church library was named after her. Mrs. Godfrey was predeceased by her first husband, Cecil Clifton Elliott, and her second husband, Sonny Godfrey.
Survivors include two sons: Fred W. Elliott of Reidsville, NC, Donald C. Elliott of Greensboro, NC; two daughters: Sylvia Elliott Wilson of Danville, Bonnie Elliott Burke of Danville; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Woodlawn Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. Swicegood Funeral Home is serving the family.
