Local Veterinarian Was Prominent
In Civil Affairs

Dr. Bernard Brim Glover, aged fifty-five, died suddenly from a heart attack at his home on Jackson avenue Tuesday morning about ten o'clock. He had been in his usual health and the attack was unexpected. He was stricken while in the office of Dr. Frank M. Leech and taken to his home where he died soon afterwards.

Dr. Glover was born near Middlebrook in Augusta county, March 24, 1879, a son of William B. and Cornelia Dull Glover, and received his education as a veterinarian at Ontario Veterinery college in Canada. Graduating in 1908, the same year he came to Lexington to practice his profession and two years later, he married Miss Myrta Miller Engleman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Engleman of near Lexington. Dr. Glover was an influential man in the community. He served on the town council from 1920 to 1929 and was formerly a member of the Rotary club. He was a member of Lexington Presbyterian church, having transferred his membership here from Mt. Tabor Lutheran church. In his profession, Dr. Glover achieved considerable prominence. He served for two terms as president of the Virginia Veterinary Medical association.

For many years he did special research work for the state and national government in the eradication of bovine tuberculosis. He was a fire commissioner of the town for the past three years and for fifteen years was an official in the Rockbridge Motor company.

Besides his wife, the following brothers and sisters survive him: Clarence Glover, Arbor Hill, Va.; John Glover, Staunton; Julius Paul Glover, of Carrizozo, New Mexico; Carl Glover, Roanoke; Mrs. Raleigh Koiner, Alexandria, Va., and Mrs. John J. Pendergast, Philadelphia, Pa.

Funeral services were conducted at the home this morning at 11 o'clock by Dr. James J. Murray of the Presbyterian church and burial followed in the Lexington cemetery.
