Iva Jean Thomas Glispie, age 79, of West Portsmouth, formerly of Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 25, 2012, in Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.
She was born September 28, 1932, in Lewis County, Ky., a daughter of the late Harve and Grace Richmond Thomas.
Iva Jean was of the Baptist faith, was a homemaker, and worked at numerous jobs. She enjoyed reading her Bible, writing and singing songs, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Arlie Glispie, three children, Darrell Glispie, Teresa Glispie, and an infant son, one grandson, Peter Vance McCleese,, five brothers, Randall Thomas, Dempsey Thomas, Buddy Thomas, Glen Thomas, and Chester Thomas, and three sisters, Alene Adkins, Leona Lewis, and Eva Kilgore.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Ky., with Brother Joe Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the Morgan Cemetery in Lewis County, Ky.
