Mrs. Betsy Hobby Glenn died Sunday, July 13, 2008 in Alamance County.

Mrs. Glenn was born on October 25, 1919 in Raleigh, NC, the daughter of John Thomas Hobby and Cornelia Bryan Hobby. She was a graduate of Salem College where she met her husband of 60 years, John A. Glenn, Jr., who predeceased her in 2001.

Mrs. Glenn was 88 years old at the time of her death. She lived her entire adult life in Winston-Salem and was a homemaker and loving mother. She was active for many years in various community services including the Junior League and Salem Home, and her church, First Christian Church.

Mrs. Glenn is survived by her brother, John Thomas Hobby, Jr., of Raleigh, and her three surviving children: Elizabeth Glenn Snow of Burlington, Sandra Glenn Alderman of Winston-Salem and John Andrew Glenn, III of Charlotte. Her daughter, Mary Neal Glenn Nawaz, predeceased her in 1993. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Robert Eric Snow, Jr., Elizabeth Snow Meeks, John Hayden Alderman, Elizabeth (Sallie) Alderman, Leila Bryan Nawaz, Farah Nawaz Nisler, and John Andrew Glenn, IV, and seven great-grandchildren: Cassidy Snow, Grace Snow, Parker Snow, John Meeks, Anna Meeks, Alie Meeks, and Noah Nisler.

The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. today, July 15, at Salem Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16 at Forsyth Memorial Park Cemetery.
