Neeses - Golena Gleaton Toole, 62, wife of Robert L. Toole, died at 5:30 Thursday afternoon in Providence Hospital in Columbia after an illness of four days. She was born in Orangeburg County, the daughter of the late Johnnie and Narcissus Axson Gleaton. She lived in Orangeburg County all her life and was a member of Christ's Sanctified Holy Church of West Columbia. Surviving are her husband, Robert L. Toole; three daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Nettles of Orangeburg, Mrs. Bettie Davis of Springfield and Mrs. Martha Jo Moser of California; nine sons, Raymond Toole of Swansea, Paul Toole, Lajune Toole and Robert L. Toole Jr., all of Cayce, Johnnie Toole of North, Lester Toole of West Columbia, Samuel Toole, Bill Toole and Boyce Edgar Toole, all of Neeses; three sisters, Mrs. Lessie Gleaton and Miss Carrie Gleaton of Columbia and Mrs. Claude Corbett of Salley; two brothers, Harry Gleaton and Sigsby Gleaton of Columbia; 22 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Hopwell Methodist Church at Sawyerdale conducted by the Rev. E. J. Clelland and the Rev. Ralph Pope. Burial will be in Salley Cemetery. The body will be at the home until the time of the services. Active pallbearers will be Bill Gleaton, Broco Gleaton, Marion Gleaton, Johnnie Gleaton, Jackie Corbett and Olin Dantzler Corbett. © The State, Columbia, SC, 23 Jun 1962
