Betty Glass Ferrell departed this life on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born Sept. 19, 1948, to the late Ivory and Mary Glass. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Ferrell Sr., and a brother, Ivory Glass Jr.
Betty is survived by her sons, James Jr. and Christopher Ferrell; a brother, Dr. Robert Glass, of Greenbelt, Md.; uncle, Hubert Glass, of Newberg, S.C.; cousin, Louise Glass Jackson, of Lynchburg; nieces, Stephanie Glass Hines, of Brandywine, Md., and Ivorie and Sheen Glass, of Lynchburg; nephew, Michael Glass, of Laurel, Md.; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Glass, of Lynchburg, and Barbara Glass, of Fort Washington, Md.; in-laws, John and Alma Ferrell, and Kenneth and Doris Ferrell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at noon Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at White Rock Baptist Church, with Pastor Ricardo Hailstock officiating. Interment will be in the Baptist Cemetery. Her remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family is receiving friends and the cortege will assemble at 2011 Poplar St.
