Geontae Tavories Glass
(April 19, 2001 - December 5, 2006)

Geontae passed away when he was 5 years old. He was brutally beaten to death by his mother's boyfriend in Albertville, Alabama. Geontae was reported missing by his mother and the mother's boyfriend, when the two claimed that he had been abducted by two masked men. However, police later found Geontae's body in the trunk of their car. There were so many wounds on Geontae's body that the medical examiner was unable to count them all. It appeared that Geontae had received the injuries from being hit with a belt and a wooden board. It was also determined that had Geontae received immediate medial attention, he could have survived his injuries, although he likely would have been left paralyzed. Geontae's mother's boyfriend eventually admitted to causing his injuries. Geontae's older sister was interviewed, and she said that she never saw any masked men take Geontae, and that she had only seen her mother's boyfriend become angry with Geontae and take him outside, before returning with his lifeless body. The boyfriend was later sentenced to death row. In 2018, his conviction was overturned. However, he was given re-trial, and was sentenced to death again. Geontae's mother was sentenced to life in prison for her role in his death.

Geontae was described as a sweet and happy little boy, who was always singing. He was a kindergarten student at John S. Jones Elementary School. Geontae is greatly missed by all who loved him.

Rest in peace, Geontae!
