GLENWOOD - Mr. Donald P. Gillis, age 83, of Route 2, Glenwood, died early Sunday morning, January 12 at his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Gillis was a native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County. He was a retired road superintendent for Wheeler County and a Veteran of World War II. Mr. Gillis attended Landsburg Methodist Church.
Mr. Gillis is survived by his wife, Dot Gillis of Glenwood; one step-son, Bobby McDaniel of Glenwood; one step-daughter, Kim Stevens of Glenwood; two brothers: Clark Gillis and Charles "Buck" Gillis, both of Glenwood; one sister, Mabel Fuqua of Jackson, GA; four step-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Donald P. Gillis will be conducted Tuesday morning, January 14 at 11A.M. from Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service, Glenwood Chapel with Rev. John Clements and Rev. Jimmy Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in the Glenwood City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 7:00 until 9:00P.M.
