EAST LIVERPOOL Ruth M. Butler, 91, of Cartwright Avenue, died at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Allegheny General Hospital, following a six-month illness.
Born April 18, 1919, in East Liverpool, a daughter of the late Rome Prescott and Mazie Ashley Prescott Gillham, she was a lifetime area resident.
She was a hand liner for 41 years at the former TS&T Pottery and an honorary member of the Glass, Molders Pottery Plastics & Allied Workers Union.
A member of First United Methodist Church, she also played in the Salvation Army Band many years ago.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death March 24, 1983, by her first husband, Harry R. Drane. Her second husband, Ernest R. Butler, died Jan. 31, 1992.
Surviving is a sister, Maxine Gluntz of Brecksville, Ohio; a niece, Marianne Humphreys; a great-niece, Lori Hissom; and great-great-nieces, Destiny and Kelly Hissom, all of with whom she resided.
Also surviving is a nephew, Mark R. Kindsvatter and his wife, Veronica; a great-niece, Lois; a nephew, John Kindsvatter, and his wife, Carole; and several other great-nieces and great-nephews.
Also preceding her in death was a sister, Esther McVay, and five brothers, Ralph Prescott, William Prescott, Dudley Gillham, Ted Gillham and Bob Gillham.
The Rev. Dale Sutton of the church is to conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Burial is to be in Riverview Cemetery.
