Birth: 1951
Death: Apr. 7, 2007

Roanoke Times, The (VA) - April 9, 2007
Carol Gill Duncan, 55, of Roanoke, beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. Born in 1951 to her parents the late Mary Adams Gill and Edward Gill, she was the eleventh of 13 children to grow up in their small Northeast Roanoke home. After attending Jefferson High School, she married Donald Dean Duncan, who preceded her in death just over one year ago. They had two children, William in 1970 and Jamie in 1978. She also lovingly cared for two stepchildren, Donald Jr. and Tawanna Johns. Carol is survived by her two sons, her two stepgrandchildren, two sisters, six brothers and many nieces and nephews. Carols strength of character and generosity of spirit touched many people during her life and she treasured the many friends who supported her always. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday at Lotz Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Mike Steryous officiating. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in honor and memory of Carol Duncan. Arrangements by Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel.
