E. G. Gilkey, 49, East Syracusan 25 Years, Dies
Edward G. Gilkey, 49, of 217 W. Ellis st., East Syracuse, died yesterday in St. Joseph's Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past month.
Born in Lyons, Mr. Gilkey had been a resident of East Syracuse for 25 years and was formerly employed in the DeWitt car shop of the New York Central Railroad.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Dieter Gilkey, and five children, Betty Jane, Joyce, Edward, Richard and Charles, all of whom live at home; two brothers, Charles Gilkey, Kirkville, and William Gilkey, Fayetteville.
Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Delaney & Greabell Funeral Home, 241 Kinne st., East Syracuse, with the Rev. Frederick Butman, pastor of the East Syracuse Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Garden, DeWitt.
