Mrs. Spicer, Wife of Attorney, Dies

Mrs. Ida Gilger Spicer, wife of Willis J. Spicer, Syracuse attorney, died yesterday at her home, 470 Allen st. A native of Syracuse, she was graduated from Syracuse university in 1882 and taught singing and instrumental music and theory there for a year after her graduation.
She was director of the music departments at Judson institute, Marion, Ala., and at Ward seminary, Nashville, Tenn. She was a former organist at English Lutheran church of the Atonement and at First Methodist church.
At Syracuse university she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority and of the YWCA, Morning Musicals and Park Central Presbyterian church. She was author of "Christian Calendar" published in 1894 and of a song "When Shall We Meet?"
Surviving besides her husband are a nephew, George Andrew Gilger, Jr., of Canton and a niece, Mrs. Florence O'Leary of Fredonia.
She was a pupil of Morritz Moszkowski, organist, in Berlin and of Alexander Guilmant, composer, in Paris.
A private service will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at the home by Rev. Dr. Ray Freeman Jenney, pastor of Park Central church. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today. It has been requested that flowers be omitted.
