Mrs. Ona Gilger Died;
Former Music Teacher
Mrs. Ona May Warner Gilger, of 45 Cambridge Road, Albany, died Tuesday morning after a long illness. She was the widow of Dr. George A. Gilger who died November 12, 1967.
Born in Smithport, Pa., she was a graduate in 1918 of Syracuse University's College of Fine Arts. At the university she was a charter member and former president of the Beta Zeta Chapter of the Phi Mu Epsilon Honorary Music Society.
Prior to her marriage she taught music in Wayland and Canajoharie and became director of music at the State Normal School in East Stroudsburg, Pa. She was musical composer of the "Publications and Songs" of the East
Stroudsburg Normal School.
Mrs. Gilger was a member of the First Reformed Church of Syracuse and had served as president of its Women's Guild. She was also a member of the First Church in Albany, The Aurania Club, and the League of Women Voters.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. T. E. O'Leary of Syracuse; a niece, Mrs. H. O'Leary of Gettysburg College, Pa., and several cousins.
Services will be at 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Van Dusen Funeral Home, 136 W. Castle St., with the Rev. Ernest Crounse, [sic] pastor of the First Reformed Church of Syracuse officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
