David Lee Giles, 85, died Sunday, March 30, at the Taylor County Hospital. He was born August 23, 1883, in the Knifley Community of Adair County, the son of the late Mary Sanders and Washington Giles. He was first married to Bessie Bottoms, who died June 13, 1948. On December 31, 1950, he was married to Bonnie Lou Hardwick, who survives. Mr. Giles was a member of the Church of God. Surviving besides his wife are five daughters: Mrs. Pearl Arnold, Mrs. Inez Cave, Mrs. Magdeline Sanders, of Louisville, Mrs. Fay Dixon of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Judie Giles at home; six sons, Johnnie and Dewey Giles of Knifley, Sammy Giles of Hartwell, Indiana, Gene Giles of Dayton, Ohio, Denny and Dale Giles, at home; forty-two grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one brother, Frank Giles of Knifley. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, April 2, at the Caldwell Chapel Church by the Rev. J. D. Campbell with burial in the Caldwell Chapel Cemetery. Lyon Funeral Home was in charge. Pallbearers were his grandsons.
