Funeral service for Jackie Ray Gildon, age 62, of Frederick will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Church of The Living God with Elder Michael Green officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Gildon passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Memorial Hospital and Physician Group in Frederick.
Jackie Ray Gildon was born on August 6, 1950 in Tipton, Oklahoma to Abe and Leona( McBath) Gildon, Jr. He attended Kennedy Elementary School in Frederick before transferring to Tipton Public Schools. He later received his GED and attended Santa Anna Junior College in Santa Anna, California, where he received an Associate Degree in Philsophy. He worked at the Oklahoma City Street Department prior to being drafted into the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam era. After returning to Frederick from his service in the military, he worked for Centra Leather Goods. On August 26, 1972, Jackie Ray was united in marriage to Laquetta Acrey in Frederick, Oklahoma. After moving to California for a short time, Jackie returned to Frederick in 1977. He was employed by Schlegel Oklahoma and then worked in construction in the Vernon, Texas area. His family was his pride and joy. Jackie enjoyed life to the fullest and was a gentle giant. He was an avid domino player, hunter, fisherman and loved to bar-be-que. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Tipton, but attended Church of the Living God in Frederick.
He is survived by his wife Laquetta "Q" Gildon of the home; two sons, Jackie Len Saunders and his wife Pam of Texas and Eric Keith Gildon and his wife Pearlie Brown of Liberty, Texas; one daughter, April Cornelia Gildon of Frederick; four grandchildren, Quin Johnson, TyJon Gildon, Zachary and Autumn Saunders; two great-grandchildren Joaquin Rodriguez and Ashyia Miller; two brothers, Willie Troy Gildon of Frederick and Aron "Pete" Gildon of California; one sister, Lillie Mae Malone and her husband Plez of Clinton; sisters-in-law, Myra Gaines and her husband Wendell of Frederick, Shirley Kay Gildon of Hobart, Lois Gildon of Altus, Gwen Hillmon-Perry and Gerletha Peppers both of Frederick; brothers-in-law, Autry Acrey of Hawkins, Texas and Thomas Acrey and his wife Katie of Midland, Texas; one uncle, Roosevelt Gildon and his wife Linda of Wichita Falls, Texas; one aunt; Juanita Gildon of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a special niece that he helped raise, Brenda Wilson of Tipton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, God-children, and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; and one sister.
