Funeral services were held Monday, May 12, at 2 p.m. in the Walton Funeral Home in Sibley, and at 2:3 p.m. in the Methodist Church in Ocheyedan, for Mrs. Alfred J. Craun, who died at her home near Sibley Friday after a long illness. She was 42 years old.

The Rev. Harold Dayton was in charge of the services. Beautiful hymns were sung by Mrs. Frank Dopp, Mrs. Harold Nuss, Lyle Fletcher and Ray Hormel. Interment was in the Ocheyedan cemetery. Pallbearers were John Wesselink, Oscar Wilson, Norman Wilson, Woodrow Nattress, H. Winters and Herman Douma.

Mrs. Ida Grace Gilbert Craun was born November 10, 1903, at Audubon, Iowa. the family lived in Audubon County until she was six years old when they moved to Ada, Minnesota, where she received her education. In 1924, she moved with her parents to Harris, Iowa, where she lived until the of her marriage.

On March 6, 1928, she was united in marriage to Alfred J. Craun of Harris. Mr. and Mrs. Craun had two sons, Duane and Marvin. The family lived in Sibley until 1944 when they began farming near Allendorf.

On Easter Sunday, 1931, she was baptized in the Harris Methodist Church, and later became a member of the Ocheyedan Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Harris.

She will be remembered as a good neighbor, with a ready willingness to help others, and a friendliness that won to her many friends. She possessed unusual courage and cheerfulness during her long illness. It was with joy she made sacrifices for her family, proving her a good mother and a loving wife.
