Florence was the daughter of Robert and Cora Delphine (Maynard) Gifford. She was the youngest of seven children through that union. Her siblings included Emily Letich, Charlotte, Ira, Alma, Olive Luthera and Cora Adell. On November 9, 1912 she married Dr. Edward T. Brunson, D.D.S. and together they had four children, Mary Eliza, Opal May, Faye Elsie and Thomas Edward.
