Joan Carol Bennett Giffin, 72, of Layman, Ohio, died March 9, 2007 at Marietta Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 18, 1934 at Kanawha Station, Davisville, WV, a daughter of Ruby Joy Bennett and the late Delbert F. Bennett.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, William C. Giffin; sons, Terry Giffin of Fleming, OH, Mike Giffin of Cutler, OH, Jim (Terri) Giffin, of Cutler, OH; daughters, Debbie (John) Kirkbride of McConnelsville, OH, Sandy (Steve) Bates, Cutler, OH, Becky (Brian) Sampson of Waterford, OH; grandchildren, Terry Lee Giffin, Tim Giffin, James Giffin, Megan Giffin, Jason Giffin, Josh Giffin, J.J. Kirkbride, Michelle Gussler, Steve (Julie) Bates, Shanda Bates, Austin Sampson, Miranda Sampson; great grandchildren, Madison and Alex Bates, Kajun Gussler; brother, Reverend Delbert F. (Dolly) Bennett of Amesville, OH; sisters, Marie Wright of Parkersburg, WV, and Margie (Charles) Roberts of Parkersburg.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one son, Steven Ray Giffin; brothers, Robert and Howard Bennett; sister, Connie Corbin and great granddaughter, Kyanne Gussler.
Services will be Tuesday 2:00 PM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with her brother, Reverend Delbert F. Bennett officiating.
Visitation will be Monday 2-8 pm at the Funeral Home.
