TIFTON -- Elma Lou Kennedy Giddens, 78, of Tifton, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Tift Avenue Baptist Church. Bro. Terrell Roberts and Bro. Wayne Driskell will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors -- Tiftarea Chapel.

Mrs. Giddens was born June 2, 1926, in Turner County. She was the daughter of William Miles Kennedy and Leila J. Murphy Kennedy, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Shirley E. Kennedy; an infant sister, Catherine Kennedy; and a sister, Clotheile K. Bennett.
Mrs. Giddens was a longtime resident of Tifton and a member of Tift Avenue Baptist Church. She was retired from Tift General Hospital and Head Start at R. L. Mack School. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing.
Mrs. Giddens is survived by her husband, Charles Lindsey Giddens of Tifton; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Raymond Larry and Joyce Giddens, Eddie Giddens, and Jerry and Penny Giddens, all of Tifton; a sister, Georgia Mae Quaglietta of Putney; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
