MR. GIDDENS DIES AT 79

Henry Giddens, 79, a lifelong resident of the Frazer community, died yesterday afternoon at a hospital in St. Joseph after an illness of one week.
Mr. Giddens was a retired farmer and rural mail carrier. He retired from the mail route 29 years ago. He was a member of the Frazer Baptist Church and had served as a deacon there for many years.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Susan Dean Giddens; a son, Charles H. Giddens, Agency; four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Grooms, Lathrop; Mrs. Thelma Walkup, Agency, and Mrs. Georgia Trout and Mrs. Melba Paul, both of St. Joseph; 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Services will be tomorrow at 2:30 at the Frazer Baptist Church, the Rev. Jack Perry officiating. Burial will be in Frazer cemetery. The body will be taken to the home in Frazer today at 2 from the Hixson mortuary at Gower.

The sixth child of John and Sarah Giddens was Henry D. Giddens. He was born 16 July 1884 and died 18 Apr 1964. On September 11, 1907 he was married to Susan D. Hines, daughter of John R. and Martha Ann (Courtney) Hines. Susan was born 7 June 1887 and died 4 Sep 1981. Henry Giddens. who was my father, was born July 16, 1884, at the family farm. Henry received his Teacher's Certificate in 1903 and taught school for one year. At that time he was appointed to be the rural mail carrier at Frazier, Missouri. He retired after carrying the mail for thirty years. He was the first mail carrier of Frazier ant the only one. After his retirement from the mail carrier profession on May 1, 1935, he continued to farm. Henry and Susan spent their entire married life in the Frazier Community. They were members of the Frazier Baptist Church and on March 27, 1944 Henry was ordained deacon of the church. Henry and Susan were blessed with five children; Ruth, Lillian, Charles Henry, Georgia Pearl, Thelma Lorene, and Melba Maxine.
