PHILADELPHIA -- Lillian T. Aldrich, 88, Chase Harrington Manor, 11 Irish Ave., died Tuesday afternoon at her home, where she was under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson Co..
Mrs. Aldrich was a homemaker.
She was a member of senior citizens groups in Philadelphia, Watertown and Antwerp, Indian River Baptist Church and Black River Valley Fiddlers and was a past member of Philadelphia Kitchen Band. She enjoyed playing cards and dancing.
Born Oct. 25, 1917, in Rossie, she was the daughter of Paul and Elsie Hitchman Gibson.
She married Maurice T. Aldrich of Pitcairn on June 20, 1935, at the home of the Rev. Daisy Harvey in Spragueville with the Rev. Harvey officiating.
The couple lived in the Gouverneur area, where they operated a farm, until moving in 1966 to Greenwich. Mr. Aldrich retired in 1978, and the couple returned to Gouverneur in 1980. They moved in the early 1980s to Philadelphia, where they were among the first tenants of Chase Harrington Manor. Mr. Aldrich died Dec. 17, 1994.
Surviving are seven sons and their wives, Olan and Gail, Saratoga, Eugene and Sue, Antwerp, Maurice and Judy, Greenwich, Donald and Grace, Ocala, Fla., Ronald and Penny, Troy, Richard and Carrie, Black River, and Terry and Laurie, Mechanicsville; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Marlene and Frank Robinson, Watertown, Lois Canning, Winter Springs, Fla., Frances and John Miller, Fine, Luava and George Culbertson, Anchorage, Alaska, and Carol and Gary Cunningham, Oxbow; a half sister, Frances Hockey, Quincy, Mass., and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A half brother, Stanley Gibson, died before her.
A service will be in spring. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa.
Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson Co. or Indian River Baptist Church.
She was married to Maurice Theodore Aldrich on June 20, 1935.
The couple farmed for a number of years in Gouverneur NY, before moving to Greenwich NY in 1966. In 1980, she returned to Gouverneur NY. She moved to Philadelphia NY in late 1980's.
Surviving are seven sons, Olan and Terry, both of Mechanicville NY, Eugene Antwerp NY, Maurice and Ronald, both of Greenwich NY, Donald, Ocala Fla, and Richard, Watertown NY, five daughters, Mrs. Frank (Marlene) Robinson, Watertown NY, Mrs Donald (Lois) Canning, Winter Springs, Fla., Mrs. John (Frances) Miller, Fine NY, Mrs. George (Luava) Culbertson, Alaska and Mrs. Gary (Carol) Cunningham, Oxbow NY and many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be on May 13,2006
