On a cold sunny Easter Sunday morning March 29, 1959 the Gibson family of Evarts did not only get candy and bunnies in their Easter baskets they were blessed with a new baby girl, Barbara Renee Gibson, born in Harlan.
One could not help but admire Barbara as a mother, wife, grandmother and a nurse who loved all her patients. As a patient she never let her diagnosis of liver cancer defeat her or get her down. As a friend, she never permitted someone else who felt outcast or down-and-out to remain that way. She always would help them.
Barbara worked most of her adult life in order to be able to take care of others. In her young years she successfully completed a nursing degree and balanced her family and the responsibilities of a home and a mother.
Barbara's hobbies after leaving the work force were spending time with her husband of 34 years, Dennis, and spending time with her two dogs, Marley and KC. She loved having pajama parties with her five granddaughters and making "Brother Bear Pancakes" with them. Following breakfast, they would spend the morning and all day watching their favorite cartoons and playing dress up. Barbara loved life and everyone in it.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arsh Clifton and Lois Gilbert Gibson and three brothers, William Clifton, David Warren and Aaron Warren Gibson.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Dennis Bargo of Corbin; a daughter, Ashley Bargo and Mandy of Sevierville, TN; two sons, Jayme and Ashleigh Bargo and Justin and Jennifer Bargo all of Corbin; five granddaughters, Katelynn and Kelsey Moore both of Sevierville, TN, Trinity Bargo of London, Sady and Ariiyanna Bargo both of Corbin; five sisters, Eva Padgett and Marie Proctor both of Gloucester, VA, Dianna and David Kelly of Seneca, SC, Louise and Victor Waggoner of Mansfield, OH and Dawn Wright of Harlan; an adopted sister and best friend, Patrica Tubbs of Gray and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
