Juanita Gibson Plemmons




Juanita Gibson Plemmons, 85, of Arden,N.C., died Saturday, August 9, 2008, at the Solace Center of Care Partners Health Services in Asheville.

She was born in Blount County, Tenn. She was the daughter of the late Ollie Gibson and Lidia Russell Gibson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fremont O. Plemmons, 2007; a sister, Stella Gibson Tilley; two brothers, Crowder and Gene Gibson.

She faithfully attended Arden First Baptist Church, and had been an area resident most of her life.

She enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She previously worked at Oak Ridge, Tenn. during World War II and retired from Taylor Instrument Co.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Brenda and Wayne Stepp of Hendersonville, and Paulette and William Dail III of St. Johns US Virgin Islands; six grandchildren, Danielle and husband, David Shepherd, of St. Joseph, Mich., Laura and husband, Gregg Baxter, of Valley Springs, Calif., Brandon Stepp of Hendersonville, William Dail IV and wife, Angela, Jason and wife, Terri Dail, of Raleigh, Ryan and wife, Andrea Dail, of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; six greatgrandchildren, Robert Shepherd, Mason Baxter, Joshua Dail, Victoria Dail, Samuel Dail, Luke Dail; a sister, Ann Blair of Harriman, Tenn.; and two brothers, Earnest and Freddie Gibson of Maryville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Thos. Shepherds Funeral Directors. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery,
Black Mountain.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Care Partners Health Services, 68 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
