Margaret Mae Gibbons was born on Aug. 18, 1906 in Eufaula, Alabama, the daughter of Stephen Eugene Gibbons and Mamie Wilson Gibbons. She attended nursing school after completing high school and was working as a nurse at the time she met and married William Van Ellis.
Together, they had three children: William Van Ellis, II, James Edward Ellis, and Margaret Jean Ellis, all living at the time of her death.
She spent her life as a homemaker and was active in the Methodist Church in Cochran, GA.
With a fiery spirit, she loved her family dearly and cared for them deeply until her untimely death on Oct. 3, 1961.
At the time of her death she had six grandchildren and was affectionately known as "Donnie".
Her youngest child, James Edward Ellis, is buried alongside she and her husband.
