EDWARD W. GERWIG 65 Dies Suddenly
Almost Lifelong Resident Is Stricken Fatally While Threshing
Churchville, Sept. 8 - Edward W. Gerwig, 65, died suddenly at 1:30 p.m. yesterday while he was threshing.
Mr. Gerwig was born in Churchville, March 23, 1877, the son of Fredrick and Catherine Angley Gerwig. On June 25, 1902, he and Miss Amelia Zimmerman, were married by the Rev. Frederick Behnke.
Practically his whole life, with the exception of three years spent in Rome, was lived in this village. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and New London Lodge, F.&A.M.
He is survived by his wife, three sisters, Mrs. Charles Beck, Rome; Mrs. Calvin Parker, Verona, and Mrs. Robert Marshall, Sherrill, and three brothers, Fred B. Rome; Frank C., Amsterdam and Elmer H. Churchville.
Funeral services will be held at his late home Thursday at 2 p.m. with interment in Churchville Cemetery.

Funeral Services Held For Edward W. Gerwig
Churchville, Sept. 10 – The Rev. Theodore A. Schrader, pastor of ST. Peter’s Lutheran Church, officiated this afternoon at funeral services for Edward W. Gerwig, who died Monday.
Florence Agne sang “The Old Rugged Cross,” and “Safe in the Arms of Jesus.” Bearers were Harley Eades, Milton Heberle, Jacob Stock, Charles Muth, Arthur Agne, and Alfred White. Interment was made in Churchville Cemetery.
Member of New London Lodge of Masons called Wednesday evening; the Masonic ritual was conducted at the grave by members of the lodge with Addison Gordinear, acting chaplain of Sconondoa Lodge of Masons, Vernon
