Agnes Gerth of Clear Lake, SD passed on to her eternal home on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the Deuel County Good Samaritan Home in Clear Lake, SD at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 3 days.
Agnes was born on March 26, 1917 to John and Bertha (Ronning) Anderson on the family farm near Toronto, SD. She was raised on the farm and attended a country school.
Agnes was united in marriage to Erwin Gerth on November 20, 1937 in Toronto. They farmed together on a farm near Brandt until they retired and moved into Clear Lake in 1972. Erwin passed away on April 21, 1981. She continued to live in her home until the fall of 2006 when she moved into the Deuel County Good Samaritan Home.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. Agnes also was a member in a Birthday Club, Card Club and a member of the Senior Citizens. She enjoyed working on the farm, gardening and playing pinochle.
Agnes is lovingly remembered by two children: Willis (Kathy Zimmer) Gerth of Sioux Falls, SD and Joyce (Gary) Hein of Chanhassen, MN; seven grandchildren: Lance (Deb) Gerth, Brendan Gerth, Neal (Welmie) Gerth, Charlotte (Ron) Albu, Katie Hein, Andrew Hein, and Alex Hein; four great-grandchildren: Dominick and Haley Albu, Emily Gerth and Amrel-Nore Gerth; several nieces and nephews and a very special friend Lela.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Erwin; two brothers: Art and Edwin Anderson; three sisters: Emma and Hazel Anderson and Louise Olson.
Funeral service will be Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, SD. Rev. Michael Enderle will officiate.
Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake, SD. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
