Frances was born on 10 October 1923 to Alexander and Anastasia "Stella" (Paschke) Gerszewski on the farm at rural Ardoch, ND. She was baptized at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Warsaw, ND. At age nine, her family moved to the Pioneer Co. farm, Fork Township, Marshall County, MN (Argyle, MN). She attended country school and completed the 8th grade. Women were granted the right to vote in 1920, three years prior to her birth and she voted for the first time in her marriage.
In her early years, she did farm field work and started at age eleven in a beet field. She worked as a nurse's aide at the old St. Michael's Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. She worked at Arctic Enterprise in Thief River Falls, MN for many years and on the potato harvester for Valley Spuds and other area farmers for 28 years.
She married Joseph Kazmierczak on 26 November 1946 at St. John's Catholic Church of Alma. "I loved him the first time I saw him". They farmed in Augsburg Township, rural Stephen, MN, where they raised five children: Audrey, Theresa, Diane, Rita and Joseph E..
Frances was known to have made "baby dill pickles" long before Vlasic and Gedney. She was a great gardener: flower and vegetables. The vegetables could be found on every Sunday and Holiday dinner table. Later, with limited eyesight, she was still able to slice cabbage paper thin. One could find quilt pieces spread on the living room floor which eventually found their way into the homes of her children and grandchildren. She put out a hummingbird feeder every year and watched the birds come back. She was able to read people, had a sly sense of humor and a great keeper of secrets.
She was preceded in death her her husband; her parents; brothers/inlaws; Alexander, Leo, Raymond (Selma), Joseph (Margaret C.), Peter (Frances), Chester (Mary), William (Margaret M.), Christine Gerszewski, Cyril Seeba and Robert Lechner; sisters/inlaws; Eleanor (Edward) Smith, Magdaline (John) Kostrzewski and Gertrude Biggs and son-in-law, Kenneth Hodny.
